Pan de Vida- Helping the less fortunate to reach their God-given potential
Mission: To spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and meet the immediate needs of the less fortunate in Ecuador in cooperation with other organizations through six core programs. Hunger relief, education, health, shelter, microbusiness, and emergency relief.
We have had the privilege to serve with the hunger relief program every Sunday and Wednesday during our time in Quito. This program serves 100-200 people a hot, freshly made meal after they have been fed spiritually through a worship service and children’s program. Our roles with this program varied within the team. While some of us helped prepare the food, the others worked with the children. We all gathered after the services to serve the food, interact with the beneficiaries, and clean up.
We have also had the opportunity to serve the ministry of Pan de Vida by performing small maintenance projects that the staff does not normally have time to do. For instance, we deep cleaned the kitchen, organized the attic & tool closet, painted the children’s tables & benches, and removed graffiti from the exterior walls. It’s been such a blessing to serve here in Quito.
