Hello from Indonesia! After MANY hours of travel, I’ve made it to my first home for the month in Bandung (Bon-Doong)! I get to spend the first half of the month with team Cultervate! In a few days, I’ll meet up with my co squad leader, Morgan, and we will travel down to the city of Denpasar to do ministry with two other teams of C Squad, Fierce Five, and Sinha. This travel day will involve a 24-hour bus ride, so send all the prayers.
It’s only day four here in Indonesia, and I’ve been reflecting a lot about my World Race journey and how different this experience is already feeling. I walked into my 11 months on the field, unsure of a lot of things in my life. I was pretty timid about who I was, my purpose, and my gifts. And I spent a lot of my 11 months wrestling with those things and trying to reconcile what I believed about myself, what other people have said about me, and the truths that God has proclaimed over my life.
Ever since I got to Launch in Georgia, I’ve felt as though God has been telling me He wants to redeem my World Race story. I first felt this when we were having a Worship and Prophecy night back in Atlanta. We were prompted to go and pray for racers from other squads. So I got up and approached someone from the expedition squad. Without knowing any of my story or my past World Race experience, she prayed specifically for my eyes. UM HELLO! If you didn’t know, I spent the majority of my race struggling with an eye infection. Having her pray for my eyes brought me to tears as I felt a huge reassurance knowing that God would protect me for these next five months.
I spent the beginning months of my race struggling with knowing if I’ve been leading a life lead by the Holy Spirit. As I learned more and sought more of how the Holy Spirit works and speaks to us all differently, I knew I’d heard his voice clearly for a long time, even though it looked or sounded differently from those around me. While I was traveling through security at the Atlanta airport, I was talking to one of the TSA agents, as she asked where I was going. I replied I was traveling to Indonesia to work with a local church. She said, “Girl! I could feel that spirit all over you! God bless you as you go out to do the Lord’s work!” I gave her a high five (I thought hugging her would have been a little inappropriate haha) and walked away stunned that even in the mundane moments of walking through Airport Security, God would remind me, the Holy Spirit dwells in me.
If you had asked me 5 or 10 years ago where I thought I’d be in life, I definitely would not say here, but I’m so grateful to be here. I’m thankful to have this unique experience of walking others through their World Race journey while also being able to spend more of my life participating in international missions work. I say it a lot, but it’s because I really believe it and mean it, His ways are higher and better, and He can do far more than we could ever imagine or guess or request!!
I’d challenge you to find the areas in your life that God wants to redeem. He loves us so much! I added a song & scripture below for you to meditate on as you go about your day, partnering in step with God to bring redemption into your story.
“Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you.” Ephesians 3:20 TPT
