Sahwatee-kaaaahhh peoples!!!

That’s hello in Thai, it’s pronounced Swaht*tee*kaaahhh. You really have to pronounce the kah because the Thai language is mainly very tonal. Like for example a quick miy (it’s pronounced exactly like it looks) is no, but if you stress the i sound it changes it’s meaning to desk. Learning Thai is difficult because I’m so scared that I’m going to offend someone by saying something the wrong way!!! That would not be Good! God implant Thai in my head!!!

Anyway quick update I can happily say (to my mother’s embarrassment ?? love you Mommy!!!) I have officially mastered the squatty potty!!!! No longer do I have to take my pants off!!! Can I get a whoop whoop!!!

Anyway quick update on my ministry! My two team mates, Mariah and Megan and I are still teaching English to higher level students. If you want to check out a video of Mariah teaching vocabulary be sure to check it out under my Facebook!!!! She’s an awesome teacher and completely brilliant person. So be sure to check out her blogs!!!! And comment how amazing she did on her teaching!!!!

So I cannot tell you how shy these students are! It is the funniest experience calling them up to the board and they either start turning red or they put their head down on the desk. But eventually they get up and reluctantly trudge up to the board to answer the question. Today we did pictionary and as I walked around the room humming the Jaws theme under my breath (yes I actually did that), the students were ducking their heads and avoiding eye contact with me….I ended up cracking up every time. We’re now going to bribe them with candy….their teachers after us are going to hate us lol oh well.

So what is difficult about this ministry is the fact that Thailand is 95 percent Buddhist. The school we are at only has one Christian teacher and it’s really hard on my team and I because we find ourselves so discouraged at times when we can’t properly teach the students about Jesus Christ and the love and wonder of God. But I have a sense of hope, a sense of change that good things will come to this school. Kru Dang our English teacher, the only Christian teacher, is doing his best to empower the students with the love of God. He is  brilliant man and I ask for your prayers to help him empower the school and to eventually show them how amazing God is and how he has dominion over false idols and gods.  Because God alone has the power to change the heart of the strongest and hardest heart, sometimes all it takes is a small seed to eventuallytake hold and make life.
