So, at this point we’re just barely a little bit over the halfway point (but I liked the title idea, so we’re going with it). Here are some of the top Q’s about my time on the World Race so far, from my friends & family back home!
Q: What has been your favorite place so far?
A: Kathmandu in Nepal! I love the city so this was my time to thrive after 3 months of very rural living in Swaziland.
Q: Which country has been the hardest so far?
A: Hmm….each country, even my favorite places, definitely had their moments where I questioned my entire life (not really, but still really haha). But overall? Probably Swaziland, though it wasn’t miserable or anything, I’m just dramatic most of the time when I’m not comfy).
Q: Favorite new food discovery?
A: Veg momos from Nepal! Cause ya know, livin’ that vegetarian life now.
Q: Would you recommend Gap Year?
A: Absolutely. It’s SO hard. But also one of the best hardest things I’ve done so far in my life. I’d be radically different without the things God has taught me about myself and others, something He used this trip to do (I mean He can totally do that in your life without a 9 month missions trip, but you get my point).
Q: Why did you leave me? (from my best friend, haha)
A: Some days I really don’t know but I love you still!
Q: Have you ever wanted to quit?
A: Um, YES. Literally, you should have seen me over the New Year. Not my prime. BUT – I know without a shadow of a doubt this is where God called me, so I try my best to choose joy on the rough days and follow Him in obedience.
Q: What’s been the hardest part of the Race so far?
A: FOMO at home. A lot has happened since I’ve been out of the states, and that’s only counting what I can see from social media updates here & there. Spending the 1st month in Swaziland with no WiFi and no power was a hard but much needed detox to start us off for the Race.
Q: What do you miss most from home?
A: FOOD. Hands down, food (I mean of course I love my family and all but FOOD (I actually have a list of everything I want to eat as soon as I step on American soil…it grows everyday)).
Q: What’s the #1 thing you’ve learned about yourself?
A: Haha, this could go so many different ways. I feel like I’ve taken away new discoveries about myself in each country so far, sometimes even multiple things. Overall though, that I am definitely a capital ‘I’ Introvert. Like, hardcore.
Q: Where have you seen God the most, and where has He been far away?
A: I’ve since Him the most through His blessings to our obedience, if that makes sense. Looking back on the past 5 months I’ve definitely seen the most ‘reaping of fruit’ when I chose Him during times of discomfort. Honestly, going right along with that, it’s been hard to see Him after the blessings have come. I’m like, um, yo God, where’d you go? Weren’t you just here? But then He shows up again and I’m like, ohhh that’s where you where. The same place you’ve been all the time (with me, of course).
And there we go! I might do another one of these towards the end of the Race, but until then I’ll continue to post updates in between them as they come!
