Strangely enough, although we’ve only been here for about five days it already feels like we’ve been here forever. I was really thankful that we got to dive into ministry the day after we arrived because it usually takes a couple days atleast before things get rolling. Another blessing this month is that we have an actual schedule!! We know exactly what we have to do each and everyday!
Here is what our schedule looks like:
Monday to Friday: We teach two different levels of English class for youth-university aged students from 5:30-7:30pm.
Saturday: Soccer at 3-4pm with kids from youth/English and people from Church. Youth group 5:30-6:30pm.
Sunday: Bible study with the youth at 8-9am, Church 9:30-11ish am. (We teach bible study and preach at church.) Football (Soccer) from 4-5pm.
Playing “foot ball”
All activities happen at the church which is about 20 minutes away from where we are staying. We have a took took driver who is like our personal taxi man that drops us off and picks us up from wherever we are to wherever we need to go. He rocks.
We have our own kitchen this month so we have been making our own food which is really nice and there is a mall/grocery store about a 10 minute walk away from our house.
So far there haven’t been a lot of youth coming to the activites but the ones who have come are very excited to have us with them. They have taken to us quite quickly and welcomed us with open arms. One of the girls is named Bopa who attached herself to me. I love her. She wrote me notes and pictures and gave me her ring. What a sweetie. She is very high energy and loves to be hugged. All of the students are precious though.
Playing Chubby Bunny at youth. (Watchin Tracy shove marshmallows in her mouth)
Today we had our first official English class.. it was super fun but will definitely be a challenging learning experience. Andrea, Jonathan and I led the first class. There were atleast 30 youth there that were quite rowdy and being our first time it was a little difficult but I think we did pretty well. I will have to learn to speak up, really loud! And get comfortable being in front a large group. I’m excited for how the Lord is growing me and making the uncomfortable, comfortable. No fear!
English Class. Bopa in the middle.
So seeing as most of our ministry happens in the evenings we have lots of time during the day free! I wrote a list of things I would like to get done and am checking them off one by one, sometimes adding more. I have been so excited to spend time with my Daddy this month, I love it! Last month I bought a journal to fill up with things I’m learning as I read the bible. I have seen some changes in my attitude and daily life which dawned on me today I think is because I’m spending more time with the Lord so serving others and things like that are coming naturally again and bringing me so much joy! I LOVE it 🙂 I’m thrilled that serving others is becoming my second nature again.
–Side note–
ATL plans are coming along slowly but surely. Our whole team feels led to Vietnam so we are in the middle of trying to find a ministry to partner with. Please continue to keep this in your prayers!
Thanks and Blessings <3
