Hey everyone!
I just want to start off by saying I am SO
excited for this adventure! I can’t wait
to see what God has in store for everyone as a group, as well as in our own
personal journeys. I am so thankful that we get the opportunity to show other
people God’s love and salvation through our actions as well as receive the
blessing of seeing the world through God’s eyes.
Okay, so my name is Ashley, I’m 20 years old and
live in beautiful British Columbia.
Go Canada!
Here’s a bit of my history: God blessed me with wonderful
parents who have guided, supported and prayed for my sisters and I through our
lives. We were home-schooled and I think that’s one of the things that created
a close bond in our family. My three younger sisters are amazing. We are not
only sisters, but friends too. Being the oldest hasn’t always been easy but it
has also helped motivate me to set a good example for the three little girls
who were watching and mimicking my every move.
Over the years I’ve been active in church
ministries such as singing on the worship team, helping in the nursery and volunteering
as a youth leader. I blossomed while working with the youth and getting to know
and love my bible study class of girls. The aspects of being a part of the
group, and my youth pastor who knew the great person I could become, helped me
to expand my comfort zone.
My first missions experience was a ten day trip
to Vicente Gurrero, Mexico, when I was 17. As a little
girl I dreamed of being a missionary to orphans in Mexico. I had been eagerly awaiting
that day for years and it had finally arrived. I helped build a house for a
poor family, do bible camp with the neighborhood children and fed kids at a
migrant camp. There are a couple of little ones that have stayed close to my heart
and will always live there. I think about them all the time, wishing I could go
back and bring them home with me.
After I graduated, I worked for a year and then
I counseled at a summer camp. I am so thankful for my friend that planted the
seed, encouraged me to go and cheered me on. It was worth every minute.
About a year ago I got involved in a young
adults group at Peace
Portal Alliance
Church. I have met so
many people there and now have an awesome group of friends.
Currently I’ve been working at Superstore and
John’s Greek Taverna. I haven’t gone to post secondary school and I’m not sure
if I will. I’m just trying to decipher God’s will for my life, taking each day
as it comes.
A couple of my passions are helping others, traveling
(although I haven’t done much), cooking/baking and photography.
Well, I guess that’s it for now, if you have any
questions feel free to ask 🙂 I can’t wait to get to know all of you!
