Hola Mis Amigos!
Thank you soooo much for taking the time to check out my blog! I am super excited about this door God has opened for me! This journey I am about to begin through the World Race will allow me to experience many firsts in my life. One of those firsts is this blog. Let’s just say that the gift of words is not one of my spiritual gifts. I ask that you have a lot of patience and grace as I try to figure this out.
My name is Ashley Soto. I am 24 years old and am from Fort Worth, Texas. I have a super awesome family! My father is from Mexico and my mother is from Honduras. I have two brothers, one sister and a super fat dachshund named Felix. I graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelors in Development and Family Studies. While I was at UNT I was blessed with being a part of a college ministry named FOCUS (Fellowship of Christian University Students). God used FOCUS to show me what it looked like to be a disciple and since then I have surrendered my life to fulfill God’s great commission.
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20
After college God continued teaching me what it looked like to step out of my comfort zone to reach out to those who needed to be loved and know who Jesus is. He allowed me to be a part of a wonderful church body at Wylie Northeast Church. God also used my incredible teammates at Buckner International to show me what it looked like to love without hurting. If it weren’t for everyone’s willingness to share their faith, love me, pray for me and my family, be Jesus to me I would not be where I am today.
In October I will begin the World Race where I’ll be given a chance to be a disciple and share God’s good news to my brothers and sisters in Christ in India, Nepal, Cambodia, Vietnam, South Africa, Botswana, Swaziland, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, and Peru. Please prayerfully consider joining me during this journey whether it’s through encouragement, prayer, financial support, or just stepping out of your comfort to be Jesus to others around you.
