I just want to say thank you very much
for everyones prayers. My Christmas wish came true…my whole squad
made it passed the financial deadline on the 15th. Some of
them have been promised the money if it does not come in by the end
of the race so that they could stay out in the field. However, they
are still fundraising so keep praying 🙂

Thailand. Oh Thailand. This month has
been a very difficult one for so many reasons. I knew it would be a
month of transition for me coming out of Africa but I had no idea
what was in store.

I was reading over my friend Justin’s
shoulder one day in Kampala and he was reading about how God builds
your character. Think about weight lifting. When you want to work a
certain muscle, you use weights that work against that muscle to make
that muscle stronger. God works in a similar way. If He wants you to
grow in patience, He will send you someone that is difficult to be
patient with. If He wants you to grow in love, He will send you
someone that is difficult for you to love. Then when you bring it to
Him and ask for patience…He will give you patience.

This month was a series of weights for
me. It was not fun at times. It may have been a little stressful at
times. There were many bumps in the road. BUT, yet again, God showed
himself and got me through another month, another season.

Tis the season for Christmas joy, snow,
and cold….I’ve got heat, in more ways than one. I was at our usual
restaurant last week. I always order the same 2 dishes. BUT, I looked
over at the table next to me and said, “that one looks good, I’ll
have what he is having. The waitress assured me that it is not too
spicy. I said perfect. Well when our food came, I got excited to see
color on my plate (remember I’m just coming out of Africa- I mean
have you tried the ugali?? thanks alex b cole) I was also talking to
my teammates so I was distracted. Without thinking, I stuck my fork
in a nice big red pepper and ate it by itself- no rice no anything
with it. It took approximately 0.82374 seconds to realize what I had
done. I started causing a scene yelling, “why did I do that, oh my
gosh make it stop, it hurts, why on earth did I do that, I ate a
pepper, oh my gosh it burns, that was a bad idea, Kirsten is my ear
bleeding? Is there fire coming out of my mouth?

Lesson learned. Thai food is really
really good, but very hot. I’m starting to get used to and really
like spicy as long as its not burning a hole in my throat and making
my ear bleed.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!! I love
you!!
