That is how I feel about Romania.
We have all joked that God knew what He was doing when He gave us Europe after 9 months of third world countries and before America, because we look like a bunch of crazy people in the supermarket or when we see dogs on leashes. A slow transition back to America I guess…
Here are the basic details of the month:
The team and I are staying in a hostile (B and I have out own HUGE room with 5 beds in it… so we each took two and pushed them together, AND we each have a mini closet… (we started praying for night end tables and shelves in Nepal (no joke) and God has been faithful!) So we have to take the local bus (get this, we get OUR OWN SEATS or personal space, it has scheduled stops and I don’t have to hold babies on my lap or be rammed into by bags of rice. So yeah, we take the bus to the church and that is where we do our ministry and cooking (yep thats right, a full kitchen. The church is like one straight out of America, personal chairs, a projector, band equiptment and a nursery. Thought I would be sinicial to all of those things after sitting on dirty floors or listening to people beat on one drum and scream in another language for worship? WRONG, I am just a million more times thankful. (I will blog about this topic later at some point) The kitchen has HOT RUNNING WATER which I actually enjoy doing dishes and wait for it….
A COFFEE MAKER, with a pot, coffee filters and REAL GROUNDS. I have not had this since the Philippines and I will not miss the amounts of instant coffee I have drank since then. For something i used to drink a near whole pot a day, I never realized how thankful I would be just for a cup of it.
Ok back to the blog, see this is why I am not in America yet, I am losing it over doing dishes.
Our ministry has been tons of stuff, and we will get into even more this week. Last week we spackeled, sanded, trimmed, primed and painted the church. We helped out with a children’s program that out reached to the gypsey children of the community. Done a few youth meetings and outings. We will be working with a school and loving on sweet babies, spending time with girls in the community and a possible retreat tot he mountains. Also, Bridget and I have been cooking dinners (she still touches all the raw meat… thanks B) for the team which has been fun.
Ok to wrap up I have a prayer request. I am so stinkin’ EXHAUSTED, 24 hours a day I feel like I am dragging. I am asking for prayer because I know its more than just “taking care of myself” I have been eating balanced meals, sleeping enough, I get coffee when I want it in the mornings and some days I work out (when I can drag myself out of bed) I’m just tired, please pray for strength for the next few weeks. We are so thankful our pastor knows we are in month ten and has given us tons of rest and the church community has been amazing to us.
I love you all!
