I have seen a common trend lately of people “giving things to God” taking a step forward, and then turning around, snatching it back with the result of delaying their progress. It is something I used to do a lot. I made things way to difficult and thought I had to be in control. I thought “getting over” these big burdens I had in my life was going to be hard and messy and painful. Yes sometimes it is. But guess what? Sometimes it really isn’t, its more simple than the thought altogether.

When you give something to God, you have to let go of it for him to take it. You can hold on all you want, but remember that He is a loving God and He is not going to swing you around let your feet come off the ground while He handles it. Hello, we have too many things to be doing here on this Earth, let Him do His job and you do yours.

Ok awesome, now you have let go. How long do you have to walk in that? A few hours, months, years? When do we get it back? I mean after all it’s our problem right? It’s our mess, and we as Christians have it all put together so we can deal with it ourselves right?

Wrong

When you hand something over to God, when you lay it at the cross you better walk away, you better leave it where it is. Who do we think we are taking something from God that He is not done with? If you gave your parents a clay pot to put in the kiln so they could make it perfect and beautiful why would you ever go on your own timing and understanding to go get it out? You wouldn’t.

It wouldn’t be finished.

God does not give you back your “crap” because He is NOT DONE WITH IT

Listen people.

Jesus, was nailed to the cross. Perfect and Holy in every way. He did not have to die for our sins, for our salvation, for our eternal lives. HE CHOSE to. With that, He had to choose to stick it out. He gave it God, and had to wait it out.

When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. (John 19:30)

Jesus did not pluck the nails out of His hands, remove the crown of thorns and get down from cross. He did not get down when the scars on His back started to burn. He did not get down when the weight of his crushing lungs made it hard to breathe. He did not get down with thoughts that He (who was perfect) could deal with it better of differently. He did not get down because it was uncomfortable.

He stuck it out, He waited, He gave it over to God. Jesus let go of himself and let the Father take care of it all

Why are we not doing the same?
