Greetings! We have been settling into
Kitale Kenya for the past week or so. We are staying with the amazing Bishop
Geoff and his wife Florence, along with their youngest son Joshua (5) (their
other three kids are away at boarding school) It’s a beautiful house where I
get my OWN bed NOT on the top bunk (PTLB) and we get some DELICIOUS food, never
mind the fact this is the fist time on the race I feel “part of the family.”
Ministry is GREAT. We have been
super busy already, and we are just getting started. Everything from creating
floors for the outside kitchen (we leveled, mixed cement and poured it out in
two days!) Being on the worship team, home bible studies, prayer at the church
Saturdays, visiting orphanages, prison ministry, teaching elementary and
visiting High School students, fasting, reaching out to street kids, laying
tile on the alter at church, and I am sure a few others my mind has ran off
with! A pretty big difference from last month.
This month the LORD has really put
on my heart to help out in extra ways at the school (weird I know, sounds like
I am a teacher or something) along with playing with the kids, teaching some
math lessons and helping the teachers gain and access more knowledge to implement
in their classes I want to do more.
As you can see the outside
conditions are humbling. I had a vision and discussed with Bishop to paint each
of the five school doors blue with different scripture on the tops. He was
thrilled and gave me the go ahead.
Cost of paint and supplies: $125 USD
Even more, when you walk in you can
see the greater need. These amazing teachers have done their best with what
they have for their students (literally those are rice bags for anchor charts)
Chart paper is 25 cents a sheet, markers I am sure are a few dollars. If you
are a teacher or if you have ever been in school you know that environmental
print, anchor charts and stimulation in the classroom is key for learning.
These classrooms are also with out BOOKS, I mean I could not find one, and they
are teaching them how to read! Most kids do not have text books to work from,
or manipulative to practice math with. I would love to do as much as I can to
enrich these classrooms, including class pictures and an art project or two.
I can’t do this on my own! Part of
me would like to drain my personal bank account and makeover these classrooms,
but God is also reminding me that I have 5 more months to go and 5 more people
groups to bless. He also reminds me that He is the ultimate provider, and will
provide for this school, and as a body I want to extend the invitation to any
of those who feel called.
If you would like to partner with me
in this “mission within my mission” please send me a message with what you
would like to do and I will get you information on how to get the money to me.
It will need to go into my personal account because I have no access to
withdraw from the WR account. Any amount would be a huge blessing, and will be
rewarded ten fold by the Father! Thank you so much for all your love and
support you have already given, that has gotten me this far, I pray you will be
blessed beyond belief.
And they join me in saying, thanks.
