Hey guys!
I went ahead and added some of you to my blog list due to the fact that I will not be on facebook alot when I leave and I wanted to stay in touch with you while I am gone. If this is your first time to my site I encourgae you to check out the home page (find out where I will post pictures) and to read a recent post I wrote titles Elosie’s Shoes.
A few updates: We have a launch date! I will be leaving the good ‘ole U S of A (along with all the other “finance” people on the teams) on September 12th! The rest of the squad will be there the following day where we will finish out some training and get to work!
My awesome squad leaders Tim and Di along with Joni, my team leader approached me at training camp to be in charge of the team finances for the trip. Basically I am in charge of the team budget, which includes getting food, lodging, interperters, etc. I will be keeping track and writing recipts for everything we spend money on (even fees for exchanging currency!)
While on the topic of finances my support is up to about $8,000! This along with some more supporters came from Threads of Hope fundraising, nannying money from the summer, and some money from my beloved Liv the Civ that is no longer with us, hahah. So this leaves me with about $6,000 to go! I would again like to encourage and challange those of you who have not yet donated to simply do $10. Think of it as three days of my food on the trip. (Seriously we survive off $3 a day for food) If you are not able, or have already done so I would ask you please pray for the support to come in! This has been the hardest thing to trust God with! I appreacieate you all!
On a final “announcement” my family is hosting an “Open House” on Saturday the 21st of August here at our place in Ashburnham from 12-4. ALL are invited! Please stop by, check out my living quarters for the next year, my backpack, there will be food, friends and fellowship! I will be selling more threads of hope bracelets and answering questions that you may have! I hope to see all who are able there! (And oh how I wish all you loves from Arkansas could be here!)
Thanks for sticking out this long informational post… stay tuned for the next post all about my team, my family, for the next 11 months…. Agape Life Song!
xoxo
