[Yes, I know that I have quoted a Hilary Duff song but just bear with me because it will make sense.]

This month we are in Chiang Mai, Thailand working with a great organization that rescues girls who are at risk for being trafficked into the sex trade industry that runs rampant here in Thailand. It is so sad to think about, but these girls here just have the best smiles.

We are also eating so well this month. Pad Thai is really amazing, if you love spicy foods. The culture here is so interesting and intricate that its almost exhausting to keep up with and try to understand. I am not allowed to touch Monks, point my toes to anyone, I must bow to people when I meet them and take off my shoes when I enter a home. The level of honor here is really much higher than we in the states are used to.

These girls bow to me everytime we come over for dinner. They play with my hair and tell my how beautiful my skin is, how gorgeous my hair is. And yet they aren’t exactly saying this like a compliment, more like they are sad that they do not look me. I hope that before I leave they will begin to be able to truly see how gorgeous God made them. Please pray for that with me.

The other night at dinner, the girls did a few traditional dances for us. Then they started to play some pop songs like some Hilary Duff songs. They wanted us girls to dance with them. So, in the middle of no where in the mountains of Thailand, a group of fun loving World Racers danced the night away with some of the best thai girls ever. After eating a great meal, of course. And it really did make me think…this IS what dreams are made of.
