Yesterday morning, I got to go to church and hear a sermon in ENGLISH! Which let me tell you, is a treat. It was lovely just to bring in the day right. I was able to be with other World Racers, other english speakers, other Filipinos to worship, pray, participate in fellowship and devote our day and lives to God. In a way, it was cool to think of it as preparing the Sunday morning for my friends and family back in the states. I was starting your Sunday off right by interceeding for yall through worship and prayer. I mean, yall are constantly supporting me through financial means and prayer, the least I can do is sing glory to God on your behalf on a wonderful Sunday morning.
Isaiah 40:6-8
All flesh is like grass,
and all its loveliness is like the flower of the field.
The grass withers, the flower fades,
when the breath of the Lord blows upon it;
Surely the people are like grass.
The grass withers, the flower fades,
but the word of our God stands forever.
This was the topic for church. We will all wither. It is true, but sometimes a weird and uncomfortable thing to think about. In fact, the pastor even showed us pictures of Elizabeth Taylor in her youth, then through adulthood and ended with her in a wheelchair to really emphasize the fact that we will all wither. The point is that in a few generations, I will be forgotten. Yes, hopefully my future children and grandchildren might remember me for random reasons, but soon after, I will be forgotten. All I can do now is be the best person I can, with whatever resources I do have, and always through everything, give God all the glory. Because ulitmately, that is what it is about. I will wither and fade, but God’s Glory is everlasting.
Colossians 3:24, 1:27
When Christ, who is our life, is revealed,
then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
…to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory
of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is
CHRIST IN YOU,
the hope of glory.
Most people I meet along the way on this race will not remember my name. These children that I am watching won’t remember that I was the one who soothed them back to sleep at 4am. These toddlers won’t remember the fun bathtimes we had or how great their lunch was. Children who come to play soccer at this camp will not know how hard we all worked to plant the grass here. Most adults here won’t remember our smiles or most of our conversations. However what people will remember is God. The children will remember the bible stories and the adults will remember the hope. If the only reason I am on this race is to give people hope and to give God all the glory, then so be it. That is a great thing to be doing and I am an honored servant.
