Our first full day in Guatemala Louis took us to explore Antigua and some of the surrounding towns. First he took us to el mirador from there you can see the whole city of Antigua and the volcanoes surrounding it. After we were done exploring, Louis assigned us our ministry projects for the next day. We were split into four projects; some were given teaching about drugs in a local school, some construction, some teaching English, and I got asigned marketing with Will. We spent our first day working with Louis coming up with ideas to advertise his bible college around Antigua as well as the VBS and soccer tournament we are putting on in the near future. That night we had bible study at the house with the local youth ages 13 to 20. We worshiped together,  played games and  enjoyed getting to know each other. Next Friday we are leading the study on 2 Timothy chapter 1. On Sunday we went to a local church. It was awsome to worship with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. After  church we met up with the rest of our squad from other parts of Guatemala. We caught up over a lunch of an authentic Guatemalan dish called pepian. On Monday the schools were closed so we all went to the construction site for the day. We were doing construction on a house belonging to a friend of Louis.  Our goal is to finish constructing their house by the first. On Monday we completed plastering the inside walls of three rooms. Everyone had Tuesday off for Guatemalan Independence Day. We participated in running the torch to the main square in Antigua and back.  We saw parades of bands in the square as well. Today the schools were still not in session so we dove into construction once again. By the end of the work day we finished plastering the rest of the rooms inside and the whole outside of the house. The plan is to next work on the bathroom and then start painting. My favorite part of the day is when I get to play with all the local children. We laugh, run, dance, and play. I can’t wait to dive into a deeper relationship with these joy filled girls and boys.
