How to use a Squattie Pottie….aka SP
Pre-Usage
- Assess area for any creatures (i.e. snakes, spiders, lizards and mosquitoes that can bite you’re bottom.)
- Decide if you will be going number one or number two to determine the appropriate direction to face on the SP.
- Hints Number one- It is ideal to face backwards on the SP in order to decrease splashing. Number two- It is more beneficial to face forward.
- Decide upon fee placement. There are many options: Place feet on feet grids on the side of the SP. Place feet immediately outside the grids on the tile around the SP (this is my preferred choice.) Some friends suggest one foot anteriorly to the SP and the other foot on the gridded area.
The final option is peeing tipi-toed.
Once adequate feet placement is secured, you can proceed with “business.”
Wiping Asians typically don’t use toilet paper. Instead there use hose like contraption next to each SP to rinse.
Tips My best suggestion to any westerners would be to keep a large stash of TP in your bag at all times.
It is also important to note that you should never flush TP down the toilet in most foreign countries. So after wiping if there is a trash can place the TP in the trash If there is no trash can place to TP in youre pocket and carry it until you can find a trash can.
If TP is not an option:
- Remove the rinser device from is holder.
- Decide if you will rinse anteriorly or posteriorly. Angles work best.
- Rinse with a passion for cleanliness.
- After rinsing allow about one minute of air drying to decrease wetness of clothing (running backwards speeds up the process).
Flushing
- Fill up the bucket of water next to the SP.
- Use the bucket and pour the water into the SP.
- Assess to see if the flush was successful.
- If unsuccessful repeat the above steps until all droppings are gone.
Washing Hands
Note Again I would suggest to Westerners to carry you’re own stash of hand sanitizer. If that is not an option you will have to get use to the idea that washing you’re hands does not include soap. Soap is usually not available so be prepared.
To wash hands:
- Again fill the bucket of water.
- Pour the water an youre hands.
- Rub hands together.
- Shake to dry.
Exit the bathroom
Have a great day.
