The storm rolled over campus, I sat on the floor
next to the window in my dorm room reading C.S Lewis’s classic  novel, The Screwtape Letters.  C.S. Lewis is one of
history’s most famed authors, and personally his writing have played a major role
in my decision to believe in Jesus Christ.   His writing’s challenge me intellectually and spiritually.  As a result I desire to live life in a reckless pursuit of Jesus Christ. Years later I still find myself drawn to his writting’s. I will forever be thankful that God has given men and women, who have gone before us in this crazy thing we call life.  And I am even more indebited for the thousands of authors, who taken the time to write down the lessons, perspectives and wisdom.  May we learn well.

“If
I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can
satisfy,
the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.” (It must be noted that this is my second all time favorite quote from any book).

“There is wishful

                        thinking in Hell

                                as well as on Earth.

“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that
people often say about Him: ‘I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral
teacher, but I don’t accept His claim to be God.’ That is the one thing
we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things
Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would be either a
lunatic – on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg – or
else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You
can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a
demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let
us not come with any patronising nonsense about His being a great human
teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.Mere Christianity.”

                        “This year, or this month,
or, more likely, this very day, we have failed to
practice
ourselves the kind of behavior
we expect from other people.”

“Now is our chance to choose the right side.
God is holding back to give us that
chance. I

t won’t last forever. We must take it or leave it.”

It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and
goddesses, to remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person
you can talk to may one day be a creature which, if you say it now, you
would be strongly tempted to worship, or else a horror and a corruption
such as you now meet, if at all, only in a nightmare.

A man can no more diminish God’s glory by refusing
to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the
word, ‘darkness’ on the walls of his cell.

“I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun
has
risen:

not only because I see it,

but because by it I see

                                                                                                   everything else.”

“The humans live in time but our Enemy (God) destines them for eternity.”

“If you read history you will find that the Christians
who did most for the present world were precisely those who thought
most of the next. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think
of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this.
