Best and Worst of Nicaragua
Best food: Mamones and Nicaraguan coffee. Mamones have a very odd texture (as Pamela might say), but they are a delicious Nicaraguan fruit. And who can´t enjoy a good cup a coffee. However, Nicaraguans drink their coffee at night ( which makes no sense to me, but I enjoy the coffee none the less).
Worst food: I am sick and tired of eating white rice. I dont really like rice to start, and I have had it served at basically every meal for the last two months.
Favorite cultural difference: Horse back is a common mode of transportation. I think I could get into horseback ridding, but I am not so sure how I would fan riding a horse down I-95.
Least favorite cultural difference: The noise. Nicaraguans are loud, very very loud. As I type this moment there is a radio blaring behind me. There are canons being shot off in the town squre, and I can hear a car alarm that has been sounding for about twenty minutes.
Favorite Ministry Time: I loved the children´s programs we had an opprotunity to lead thoroughout the month. The children are beautiful and a blast to be around.
Biggest Challange: Attempting to learn Spanish. I have decided recently that I really am bilingual. I speak English and Spanglish.
Our time in Central America will come to an end this weekend. Our team will then begin, the way too long travel to Asia. We will be in Thailand for a few nights for debriefing, before heading off to Vietnam for the remainder of the month. Thankyou everyone for all the encouraging emails and comments. It really means so much to me, and keeps me going on hard days. Thanks for all the prayers and all the support.
