He’s different everywhere you go and Malaysia is no exception. Thus far, it has been the farthest from anything I ever seen or used.
Just to let you in on a little bit of plumbing around the world, or at least this small part of it, here’s the story.

Squatty potties are common and you’ll find them maybe 10 to every 1 western style toilet.
They don’t generally use toilet paper here. Instead they have a hose to clean.
You will find the water from that hose splashed all over the stall floor. -all over

If you do choose to use toilet paper, it’s BYOTP and rare that you can flush it.
And because flushing isn’t a reality, we also found other things unable to go down.

The bathroom in the house we were staying at was such a toilet.

These were our instructions in order to take a….well, you know
1. catch it on a newspaper or fish it out after and place on newspaper
2. wrap it up neatly
3. place it in the waste bag with other bathroom trash
4. take down the street to the dumpster and discard

we would often opt to use the hospital down the street with flushing capabilities.

below are some of the many varieties we find here.
