I began writing this blog in my tent last night. Picture this…
I’m sitting in my tent (which is now my permanent home for the next month) holding my flashlight in my mouth because I’m holding my journal in one hand and writing in it with the other. My hair is soaked and my JEANS are full of sand…not the most comfortable thing. I have sand all over my tent because a couple of my squadmates and I decided what better way to celebrate our second night in South Africa than to skinny dip in the Indian Ocean? I mean really? What could be better??
So now I have a tent full of sand, I’m shivering because I’m still soggy and laughing at the fact that we ended the night with a pattywagon ride home with two local cops. I had another one of those moments where I feel like my life is just one awesome dream that I never want to wake up from!
I’m just going to say that these past few days have seriously been a fairytale.
On our last bus ride to Plenttenburg Bay, we passed a beach that was outlined with mountains and the water was completely see through. Gorgeous! We took a Taxi to our house, which is located in the middle of a farm. At night, you can see more stars than you would be able to see in a planetarium…if that is possible…The sunrises are unbelievable (yea I’m awake for them because the sun warms up my tent and wakes me up) and the sunsets on the beach are to die for. The weather is NEVER humid and usually stays around the low 70s and is ALWAYS sunny…I can’t stop pinching myself.
I am seriously living in paradise right now 🙂
