You know you've been at Training Camp when:

  • You commit to sleeping in the wilderness for 8 days when it’s your first time camping
  • Stuff everything you own into a hiking backpack only to then evaluate how many days it’s O.K. to go without clean clothes/underwear/hair so that you can pack lighter.
  • You sweat... through everything... no matter how many times you change.
  • You encounter Jesus in strangers and experience healing that you’ve been longing for &fall deeper in love with Jesus and in awe of all of God’s wonders.

  • You realize that the stench that’s been following you—that you’ve been blaming on everybody else—is indeed in fact you when you go to give a high-five or hug and get a whiff of your own armpit and clothes.
  • You consider fruits and vegetables a “treat”
  • The "5 second rule" turns into the "5 minute" rule because your hungry and lets face it– it will most likely be the only food you eat for the next 4-5 hours.

  • Sharing everything you have–clothes, underwear, toothpaste, toothbrush, stories around a campfire or during dinner about your bowel movements, laughter and tears, food–not to mention sickness–is not out of the norm.
  • Dancing (and not always well) is a regular occurrence
  • You find your voice—to sing, to scream, to declare, to encourage, to praise, to love, to laugh.

  • You leave training camp feeling like you’re saying goodbye to 50 new family members, even though you’ve only known your squad for a total of 8 days or so.
