This month
in Nepal was on of absolute beauty. We got the privilege to spend a month in a
village with a pastor and his family. From the moment we arrived in the
village, to the moment we left, we were invited into their home, their
ministry, and their family as one of their own.

Here, God
revealed to me how he loves and shines beauty through his people and all of his
creations. From the Himalayan mountains in the distance, to the wide open
fields of crops or flowers, to the sounds of children laughing and singing in
the Nepali as the sun rises”this is Nepal. Everywhere we went we were stared at
and greeted as though we were celebrities.

Every home
we entered or person we talked with, invited us into their homes and wanted to
offer us whatever they could”whether that be water from the well, spiced or
chai tea, or endless amounts of food”I felt completely honored and was often
left speechless. How could I ever express “thank you enough? Many of these
people didn’t have much, but they offered it all, and they wouldn’t take “no
for an answer when they offered.

 On our first day of
ministry, we went into one of the nearby villages and got a chance to sing
songs and share the Gospel. As we congregated under a small roof, the rain
began to fall, and more and more people gathered around to hear what we had to
say. After a teammate finished sharing the Gospel message, a young man named
Razoo, knelt before the Lord, smile plastered across his face and tears in his
eyes, asking Jesus to be the center of his heart and life and committed to
following Jesus, wherever He may lead. Ministry often would look like sharing a
message that God placed on our hearts, or encouraging believers, sharing the
Gospel, teaching English, playing with kids and singing songs, and just resting
in the beauty of the Nepali people.

We left
Sirlahi, Nepal after only 2 short weeks of ministry, and I certainly left a
part of me there as well. As we waved goodbye, tears could not be contained by
anyone”my team, the pastor and his family, the neighbors and their families,
the people from the church”as we all embraced one another. Their love for us
was extravagant, unwavering, and undeserved; and how much more is Jesus’ love
for all of us…
