onour road trip for jesus, team oasis learned that in turkey all red road
signs are only suggestions. including stop signs and stop lights you
don’t actually have to follow any of the ‘suggestions.’ we also learned
that flashing hazard lights are all to necessary when driving with a
certain red-head from louisiana. mostly for situations including
backing up on the freeway and going around a round-about well, more
than once.
the call to prayer goes off five times every day in turkey. after the first few days you start to get used to it and just don’t notice it so much. we did learn that you can not go into tour a mosque during the call to prayer. but, if you ask nicely to go in and pray they will oblige. thank goodness they don’t ask who you are going to pray to.
istanbul is half asian, half european. who knew?
it’s the cheapest place to eat in town. also, not a bad place to meet incredibly influential people and potentially share the gospel with them.
thanksgiving day was probably one of my favorite days on the race so far. we had the entire squad together at a wonderful church. the day was complete with baptisms, napping, and an amazing thanksgiving spread. turkey, however is not easily accessible in turkey. and with an incredibly small oven and fifty people to feed for we opted for the rotisserie chickens down the street. still, definitely a day for the books.
enough said. they are delightful.
