september 1st we left coleraine, ireland and rode a bus 4 hours to dublin. from there 87 us (the entire august squad) boarded a plane for bucharest, romania. we arrived around 9:30 pm and hopped on another bus about an hour later. soon after leaving the airport my team and kingdom unity [we’re combining as ki-gi-gi for the month] transferred to a small bus. a small bus with very loud speakers playing romanian techno music. i have decided that i like romanian techno, but not in the middle of the night. so here we are, on a bus. starving, freezing, exhausted.
after being on the bus for about 45 minutes we stopped at a gas station for food. they were closed.
for a 30 minute break. at midnight. good timing, folks. good timing.
we decided to wait and eventually got some food. we had 5 more hours van-riding ahead. it wasn’t too bad.
i mostly slept, waking up at 4am to sing along to mmmbop on the radio.
we arrived in our village just in time to see the sun come up and then we crashed until 2 in the afternoon. and just enjoyed an afternoon exploring and playing with some local kids.
today we are going to a gypsy village to do a drama and share testimonies. it sounds like we might have opportunities to preach as well. i’ll probably try to opt out of that one, but we will see.
we’ll be working with different gypsie villages in the area doing a variety of things. i’m really looking forward to this month of ministry. the country is breathtaking and i just feel so blessed to be here, and able to serve this community. we found out yesterday that there was a mix-up in logistics and we actually are not even supposed to be here! but, the lord is guiding and directing and we are all so excited to see how he is going to use to bring kingdom to romania this month!
