This past week has opened my eyes to the
realm of spiritual warfare.  I thought I
knew what to expect.

I was wrong.

The Enemy has many methods of fighting
against us.  Sometimes he attacks on both
spiritual and physical fronts.  Last week,
when we were praying for Mayra, he attacked our trust in Christ’s victory on
the cross.  His next attack was to breed
division and dissention amongst us.
These issues came to the surface over something as silly as washing
dishes.  Last night teams Fuego and
Azariah (the two teams here in Camotan) met together to resolve these
miscommunications and frustrations.  It
was an incredibly freeing time of confession, forgiveness, and speaking truth
over each other.  We resolved that Satan
was not going to tear us apart.  We stand
together as brothers and sisters in Christ, not as team Azariah or Fuego.

We went to bed feeling united and at
peace.  The Devil then unleashed his next
attack against us.  From approximately 1
am until 4 am, my teammate Warren was in agonizing pain.  We all got up out of bed to pray for him, and
finally after an hour he was able to return to bed and rest a bit.  This morning, six of the thirteen people here
were too sick with stomach pains and diarrhea to participate in ministry.  We believe that Satan is sending everything he
has against us because we are a threat to him here.  As Paul writes in Ephesians 6:10-13,

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His
mighty power.  Put on the full armor of
God so that you can take your stand against the Devil’s schemes.  For our struggle is not against flesh and
blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of
this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly
realms.  Therefore put on the full armor
of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your
ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”

The Devil is fighting so strongly against
us because we are bringing the Kingdom of God to the darkness here.  I am convinced that God wants to do amazing
things through us, and equally convinced that Satan is determined not to let
that happen.  But praise God that we have
an overcoming Savior who has already won the victory over Satan on the cross.  The Enemy is already defeated.  Even so, he still fights against us.
I am asking you to pray for teams Azariah
and Fuego for these next two weeks.  Please
pray for God’s protection against everyone of the Enemy’s attacks.  Pray for health and strength to do the work
the Lord has set before us here.
Finally, pray that God would use us to pierce the darkness that
surrounds this land with His brilliant light.
God’s Kingdom is coming.  We are
not afraid of the darkness.
