God has no concept of time! He works in a way where time doesn’t matter to Him! We as humans are always looking for more time because it seems like we never have enough of it!
But what if we stopped and lived by God’s time and not our own!???????????!
This is the exact lesson that my team learned in our last week of doing ATL in Romania! We just returned back to Brasov and we realized that we only had one week left to follow what God wanted us to do! It didn’t seem like there would be enough time!
We walked into our hostel and the place was swarming with American college student! It felt like we had walked through some kind of time warp and had landed in America! We quickly learned that it was a group of students doing a service project. They were helping in an aids clinic and an orphanage all around Romania for 2 weeks!
We saw this as a great ministry opportunity! Maybe for the first time in a long time we could witness and show them God’s love. And it was going to be to people who actually understood every word we said! They quickly started calling us ‘the missionaries!”
That excitement quickly got turned around when we found out the early the next morning that they were leaving around noon that day! How are you supposed to do ministry in such a quick time?
Well you allow God to work…that’s how!
Half of my team trickled in and sat around the breakfast table and half of their group did the same! We started with the awkward small talk and it grew into them wanting to know more about what we were doing! They were very interested in the fact that we were traveling to 11 countries in 11 months with only a backpack! They asked what our favorite countries and our hardest countries were! They really weren’t interested in the God part of our trip but that didn’t stop us! We just sat there and shared stories!
After a while they quickly dispersed to go pack and we continued sitting at the table talking!
A few minutes passed by and this angel of a women busted through the doors and said “Are you the Missionaries????” That is when we got to meet Latasha! Lastasha was a college student and the only Christian in her group! She was a bold and gentle women of God with so much passion andknowledge!
The next hour was filled with a lot of laughter and a LOT of tears! We got to hear her heart and her struggles. We got to tell her about what we have been doing and our own struggles! It was like we had been friends for years! We got to pour into her and give her some amazing feedback! She encouraged us in ways she will never know! It was probably one of my favorite moments on the race! I could have listen to her talk for hours!
But it seemed like time was against us that morning because soon we had to say goodbye to our new sister! How do you say goodbye to someone you have only known for an hour but feel so spiritually connected to?? I felt like I didn’t have enough time with her?
The lesson didn’t come until a few hours later! I realized that God doesn’t NEED lots of hours or days to ‘work His magic!’ God used only 1 HOUR to form a friendship with 7 complete strangers! Latasha and our hearts were touched that day! He made time go slowly so we could use every second of that hour! He knew what we needed and He provided!
If God only needed that 1 hour, then why are we always worrying about time! God is providing for our needs…and time is one of those needs! Learning to trust Him in this area is not an easy step.
He has given us 24 hours a day…7 days a week…365 days a year! We waste so much time worrying about how we are SOOOO busy but really what are we doing with our time!?
My eyes were opened up that morning! I will always be thankful for that hour! If I was told I had to go home after that hour…I would be okay with that! It was worth every second! I don’t want these next 2 months to be wasted because I got in the way of God’s time schedule! I don’t want to go home and waste my time where I could have conversations with people or spending those extra seconds with that stranger at the park or store!
Who knows what I will meet the next Lastasha!!??????????????
