March 1st is a significant day for racers – it’s the day that our support accounts have to be full. Not having a full account can mean many things, but the one thing that looms over many racers head is “Home”. This is a hard journey to process through because coming on the race is about responding to a calling that the Lord has put on our hearts. It’s about being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. About going out and representing those that can’t.
This is another time in my life that the Lord has given me the opportunity to fight for someone near and dear to my heart. The first four months of my race journey I was able to step into the life of Rachel Martin.

A soft and gentle soul that hails from good ‘ole Wisconsin. The Lord called her to the race to experience a life outside of what she’s use to – to embrace 11 different cultures, to learn what love really is and to walk into a “new” Rachel Martin within a community that accepts her.
Rach was on team LOL with me for the first leg of the race. Actually, God had Rach be a part of my life before the race even began. We walked through truths and lies that the devil was speaking over heart. At the beginning of the race, Rach thought she had no voice – that her voice had no power or influence. She thought she was insignificant, that love wasn’t for her. She thought she wasn’t beautiful and that she needed to look better than others.
Now, she’s walking upright as a woman that’s rejected these lies. I watched her yell freedom out a bus window in the Philippines, as she owned the voice that the Lord has empowered her to use. I watched her experience love like she never has before in her life as she became a part of a family in South Africa – here the Lord brought so much redemption and release over what love really is and looks like within a family. And He showed her more about her own significance in the gifts, like speech, that the Lord has blessed her with. I celebrated her 25th birthday with her where beauty took on a whole new meaning in Rach’s life. She got her ears pierced and rocked a beautiful blue dress that the team bought for her. That day, I would say, Rach’s spiritual journey took a new turn. She owned the beauty that the Lord created within her; she believed the truth that the Lord had spoken over her. Her heart was being prepared to walk into a new team and simply a new season of life.
Last month in Swaziland, I had the opportunity to share life with Rach again as our teams were paired up together. I had the pleasure of continuously witnessing the ways that the Lord was working in her heart and in her life. I watched her fall in love with the children we ministered to in the hospital, for the burdens He gave her to pray for them daily. I shared in the prayer of casting a demon out of a woman we visited in the women’s ward. I watched Poppa Jesus capture more of Rach’s heart and turn her eyes more and more to His face. I prayed alongside her for an increase in her pursuit of the Lord as He continued to provide for her needs.

Isaiah 1:17 kinda became our squads verse before we launched. This verses was on the back of the “squad t-shirt” that Rach designed. “Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause”. This is the desire of Rach’s heart. To seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with her God. The reality is, Rach’s race could soon come to a close. By March 1st, Rach needs $3200 in her support account. I am partnering with Rach because I believe in her and what God is doing in her life. I believe in the transformation that the Lord has performed in her life thus far and believe that He has so much more in store for her.
I’m asking you to partner with me as I fight for Rach. She hasn’t seen any money come in this week, but I am confident the Lord will provide. I watched the Lord bring in $14,800 in two months into my own account; I trust that the Lord will bring in $3200 in two weeks to Rach’s account. If you feel the Lord pulling on your heart to support Rach, visit her blog at rachelmartin.theworldrace.org. Read her past blogs about what the Lord is doing/has done so far in her life through the race. To financially support her: Click the “support me” link on the left hand side of the screen and it will guide you through the process. Let’s keep Rach on the field because the Lord has great plans for her throughout these next 5 months.
