Today I was sitting in a grocery store waiting for my teammates to finish making their selections for our grand 50-hour bus ride that will begin tomorrow morning promptly at 10am. I’ve been quite sick the past few days, so the thought of picking out food that my body would even desire to consume on a bus is quite taxing on my mind.
I decided to sit down and take a rest while I waited. I conveniently sat near the dairy section where a stand is set up which seems to be giving samples of milk to customers that come by. And mind you, a human is dressed up in a plushable cow suit.
So, for the past 15 minutes I’ve watched child by child literally run by the cow as their parents make the trek down the dairy aisle. As the cow ventures out in their direction with his/her arms extended, intending a hug, they shrill in fear like a demon is approaching them and get that really hurried run on.
It really got me thinking…I don’t know who is in that suit, but what a horrible job that must be to continually be shot down by the ones you want to bring joy to.
As people, I think we do that daily. I started to wonder what if God came back to earth in human form and set up a stand in a grocery store and offered out forgiveness or free hugs? Would we as “fearful” children run away from Him and cower in our disbelief, or would we approach Him and accept His love?
It reminded me of my utmost devo from the other morning. Chambers convicted my heart with his deep words; “If you are truly recognizing your Lord, you have no business being concerned about how and where He engineers your circumstances…be determined to recklessly abandon yourself, surrendering everything to Him. It is only through abandonment of yourself and your circumstances that you will recognize him”
Would you recognize Him and visit the God stand?
I recognized this guy and embraced it ;]
