A few weeks ago, during our morning devo time together as a team, we talked about the community of Dobromirka and prayed that despite our limited interaction, they would see Christ’s light shining through us. That night, I had a vision about the community. In my vision I was walking to the building across the street (it’s like the “town” hang out) and handed something to each person I passed that said, “Jesus loves you”.

Truth be told, I didn’t think much about it. But later the next day, I had the same vision. In previous months, Tim and I have talked about evangelizing to the community we’re in numerous times. So, Poppa laid him on my heart to make my vision a reality. I thought about it, prayed about it and decided to make cookies and write “Jesus loves you” on a little piece of paper to put on top.

Later that day during feedback, I told Tim about my vision. We were both super excited about it and started planning when to “execute the plan”. Well, one night after dinner, I started making the cookies, and he started making brownies. Everything seemed PERFECT. Except that when we took everything out of the oven…the cookies were not 12 neatly placed cookies, yet they were one giant thin cookie. And the brownies…they were literally slush. We nixed the plan.

Little did we know it would come back to haunt us. It was on my mind every day. However, it was getting near the end of the month and we didn’t have as many “supplies” or “money” to make it happen. Finally, Tim brought it up to me again. We both agreed that we needed to be obedient to the Lord and follow through with the vision.

Ironically, I made the cookies the day before my birthday. I was in the kitchen talking to Char as I was baking, and it dawned on me…”what if I hand these out on my birthday?” “what if God wants me to surrender that secret joy of having a day all about me, and chose to brighten someone else’s?” Well, that’s what Poppa wanted. So we DID IT!

The cookies turned out amazingly! We were all gathering for a team photo outside and before we snapped the shot, we journeyed across the street to bless a few people! It was definitely the highlight of my day!

Many people back home wanted to know what I did on my birthday, so I made this video to show you! My teammates are ridiculous. They keep this video real classy!

PS. This is a super awesome video made my super awesome boyfriend, Tyler, for my super awesome birthday!
