Have you ever had something that chased you down no matter how far you ran, that found you no matter where you hid, that kept revealing itself to you in new ways, each one more unlikely than the last? Well, that something, that passion for me is loving people. After my first two mission trips, I was hooked, but I couldn’t help feeling like there was something more out there for me, something more intentional, more challenging, and more impactful. World Race is the more I was after.
I will be spending 11 months in 11 different countries throughout Asia (India, Nepal, Mongolia, China, Japan, Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand). It will be a journey, unlike any other, to discover who I am, the world I live in, and the God I serve. My team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human sex trafficking, and bring the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations. I will be leaving the life I’ve strived to build for the last 23 years, for a backpack, a tent, and a chance to discover what it really means to “love God, love people, and do stuff”.
I will of course face many challenges throughout this journey, but as I prepare for departure, one of my greatest challenges is financial support. In order to leave fully funded, I need to raise $18,000. This money will cover all of my field expenses for the 11 months of the trip, my medical insurance, and all my vaccinations. As I take this leap of faith, will you consider joining me?
I can’t help but feel that this is only the beginning for me, the first of many journeys to come. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather share that with, then someone who believes in a better world.
