As the curtain closes here on my time in Ecuador, I am filled with a mix sadness, happiness and thankfulness. It's hard to believe that a month has come and gone! And what a month it has been. Words cannot express how much the Lord has given me and what He has done for me this month.

Pastor Ivan, his wife Nancy and I

I can't thank God enough for this opportunity!  As is common, you never know how truly blessed you are until you get the chance.  One thing God has given me this month, is the chance to see what contentment looks like. While it may be all they know, I've seen many people in Huaticocha (Pastor Ivan and his wife for example), who are content with what they have. They take what they can and are more than willing to give of what they have, even if it costs them something. Hospitality is one thing the people will never lack.

  • Some of the legalistic/conservative views they have: They once had a missionary come and were told by the missionary that cards are of the devil. They also base their views of dancing on secular music. So basically dancing is also of the devil.

Overall, I had a great time! I feel so blessed and so priviliged to have been a part of Pastor Ivan's ministry. I admire the passion he has for the Lord and his community. I hope to go back one day and see the completion of the missionary school. I will miss my jungle boys, specifically Juan and Bralio. I thank God for this incredible opportunity! I pray that God will continue to bless Pastor Ivan and his ministry. I also thank those who read my blog during my first month on the WR. One month done and ten more to go!!!
