WOW!
God is continuing to
blow my mind! He never ceases to amaze me.
This past week we had the opportunity to hold a medical
clinic in the Kibera slums. Let me tell you a little bit about this pace…first
it’s one of the largest slums in Africa.
Kibera is located in Nairobi
(the capital city) and there are around one million people living there. *Note: the population of Nairobi is around three million.
So we loaded the car with the donated medicines and headed
to Kibera. The drive in was really emotional. It broke my heart to know that
people actually had to live in these tiny rundown homes. Then our driver told
us that we weren’t even seeing the worst of it – that we were actually seeing
the “California”
of Kibera. Wow.
We set up the medical camp in a school. One classroom for
the waiting room, one for the examinations, and one room was the pharmacy.
I had the privilege of going around the waiting room and
praying for people before they were examined. At first I was a bit scared and
nervous so I followed my teammate around. We prayed for children with coughs
and gave out salvation bead bracelets. Then I got brave and ventured out on my
own. Here is an amazing story of how God is working even these days!
I met five teenage boys who were friends. I asked them if
they were all sick and they said yes. They all had illnesses and I called in
some reinforcements to pray with me – Amy and Gina. They say that there is
strength in numbers. Here are the stories of the five boys….
Meet my friend Moses. He is 16 years old and came to the
clinic with a terrible cough and bronchitis. We laid hands on him and prayed
for God to heal him. God didn’t answer our prayers the first time so we prayed
again. God answered the second time and Moses was cough free!

This new friend is Stormy. He is 11 years old and had a
twisted neck and stomach ache. Welp, not anymore! After a couple prayers and
some good ole healing from our awesome God, he was able to leave the clinic
with no pain!

Michael, a seven year old boy, came to the clinic with some
rash/scars/scabs all over his head and face. We prayed and prayed for him. That
the annoyance would go away and that there would be no scarring. Although we
didn’t see any immediate healing, we are confident that God is going to take
care of His son!
Ahh! The blind shall see! Praise God. Nicholas is a 12 year
old boy who came to us with an irritated eye. It had been bothering him for
four days and he could no longer see out of it. Amy, Gina, and I were confident
God wanted to heal his eye so we prayed. And we prayed again. And because the
third time is a charm we prayed again. And when he opened up his eyes he could
see! Oh yeah! Our God had amazing healing powers!
Simon is 11 years old. He had severe stomach pain. So, we
did what we love to do and that is pray. We prayed and after he said that on a
scale of 1 to 10 his pain was a 2. We knew our God could get it down to a 0 so
we prayed again. Sure enough, God showed off and healed this boy!
Our God is so big and powerful and mighty

“As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near.’
Healing the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out
demons. Freely you have received, freely give.”
Matthew 10:7
