God is really using us here in Uganda to expand His Kingdom. He
continues to blow my mind. Last week during just four days of going
door-to-door we saw about 50 people come to Christ and five of them were
Muslim. Many of them even showed up to church on Sunday. It’s been amazing to
see how God is working.
On Thursday I had a really amazing opportunity to share the
Gospel. Evangelism time was up and we had to head back to the church to meet
everyone. We were walking and this drunk man came out and greeted my translator
like they were great friends. They didn’t actually know each other but the man
was just excited to see a mzungu (a white person). He invited us to come and
share the Gospel in the bar he was drinking at. My translator asked if that was
ok with me and I said yes. So we entered the bar.
Upon entering I heard really loud music and there were about
15 people scattered around drinking. They turned off the music for me and told
me that the podium was mine. Wow. I
thought…here I am in Uganda
in a bar and God has given me the opportunity to share the Gospel with so many
lost souls. In Uganda,
Christians do not drink at all because it is really looked down upon.
I started at the beginning. God creating Earth, man, and
everything else. Then I shared about Jesus and how He died on the cross for our
sins and how we have salvation through His death. I ended with eternity and how
God is offering us this free gift of Heaven and we have a choice of whether or
not we will receive it. Then my translator asked if anyone wanted to throw
their drinks away and give their life to Christ.
Three men in that bar threw their drinks away, put their
hands over their chest, and I got to lead them in the prayer of salvation. Yes!
Angels are partying it up in Heaven. The man that had asked us to come in,
Eddy, had given his life to the Lord as well as his father. It was a beautiful
moment.
Eddy even left the bar with us and came up the church. He
met Pastor Joseph and we found out a bit of his story. This man is high up in
the army and knows the first lady. He had really been struggling in life which
made him turn to alcohol. He reached a breaking point recently and cried out to
God. He told God that if would send a white person to share the Gospel with
him, then he would give his life to the Lord and live every day for him. I got
to be that answer to prayer. God used me to answer Eddy’s prayer and bring him
to Christ.
I wish everyone could see the sheer joy on Eddy’s face as he
threw that liquor away and walked to church. It was one of the most beautiful
moments I’ve ever experienced. God rocks.
