It’s time to blog. thanks, Kelly, for the title. I’m
in Uganda.
Wow. I love this place. Pastor
Joseph and his wife, Beatrice, have been the best hosts ever. They have even
blessed us with a luxury food – popcorn! They have truly been a blessing to my team
and I.
So this month we have been going door-to-door in communities neighboring our home church, Ambassadors of Life. At first I was
really nervous to go alone with only a translator and no other teammate. I
usually bank on them doing most of the Gospel sharing and I can throw in my two
cents every once in awhile. But God has had different plans for us this month
so off we went in pairs. Just me and a translator.
love it. I’ve been able to share about God’s love to so many people and
I’ve seen eight people come to Christ! Praise God.
A quick story…The first day my translator and I were walking
and we approached a building with a woman sitting outside it. He told me it was
a bar and asked if I wanted to go talk to the woman working outside it. I said
yes. (side note – this bar is not like America. One table. Two chairs. A
mini-fridge. 10 bottles of alcohol and a case of beer) We approached the woman.
Her name is Emny. She is a Muslim but she welcomed the sharing of Jesus Christ.
I was nervous and excited. Muslims have proved throughout the race to be the
hardest group to share the Gospel with because they are not receptive and are
very closed off. They only like to argue. But Emny was different. I could tell
that she was lonely and missing something – the love of Jesus Christ.
I shared the Gospel with her and she never looked away from
me. When I finished my translator said a few words to her. She had a couple
questions that he answered for her in Ugandan. She then looked him in the eye
and said she wanted to accept Christ! Woo Hoo! So right there outside the bar
where she was working she got down on her knees and I prayed with her. What a
beautiful moment. We invited her to church on Sunday.
much. You all have the ability to be
God’s vessel in sharing His word to the people around you. You don’t need to be
in Africa to do it. God might be calling you
to share the love of Christ with your brother,
mother, neighbor, friend or co-worker. Don’t ignore that calling. It’s not
fair to those who might not ever hear of God’s free gift of salvation.
