This is a poem that I wrote a while ago about going on the World Race. I'm not thrilled with posting it, because I don't refer to myself as a good writer, but I feel like it will be a good precursor to the next blog (or couple) that I post. So here we go!
My Race
A test of endurance.
Of Faith.
Through trial after trial. Against doubt.
Persevere.
Trading been changed for changing the world.
Finding further transformation.
His likeness. Going into darkness.
Exchanging ashes for Beauty. Inside, along with out.
Trading enemy lies for ultimate truths.
Misplaced belief for trust…
Promises of comfort, security, future
For risky salvation. Freedom.
For the oppressed.
Abused, wicked, invisible.
For the lonely.
Scared, unworthy, blind.
For the hungry.
Lost, deprived, broken.
From my past.
Hurt. Insecurity.
From confusion.
Doubt. Anxiety.
From deception.
Greed. Corruption.
Turning to humility.
Instead of destructive conceit.
Trusting His love.
Finding expectation. Affirmation.
In His control and guidance;
Strength and patience.
To continue running.
With faith and endurance.
Knowing all attainment remains for Him.
Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfector of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
More blogs to come about how all of this is literally playing out in my life on the World Race…
