So here we are, month four. We just got out of a month in Vietnam in a huge city with loud noises from millions of people that seemed to never sleep. Talk about a change of pace…we are now spending a month in the beautiful country of Cambodia. The ground is covered in green rice fields, the children are always delighted to see a foreign face, and the people are quickly becoming family.
Here's a little background on the ministry here. Vuthy is a wonderful and successful man of God. He first learned about Jesus working as a tuk tuk driver in Phnom Penh for YWAM. After becoming a Christian he established a magnificent place at his home in Kampot where he teaches English, holds church service on Sunday, and loves on the people of his village. Vuthy has the biggest heart I have seen in a long time and he certainly is an inspiration.
My team spends Tuesday through Friday teaching three different English classes, three times a day. Saturday we travel to another village to teach English, and Sunday we run children's church and then help out with the regular church service. It is a jam packed and amazing schedule. We will gladly admit that we are exhausted by the end of the day, but these children are so willing to learn, and so loving, its hard to mad about it.
Then there's Vuthy's family..what can I possibly say about them?! They have quickly adopted us as their own. From chasing us with crabs to letting us learn from each other. It feels like living with a bunch of older brothers! It's probably the most fun I've had so far! This place truly is amazing.
So here is my challenge for you: take in the people around you. Maybe it's someone you don't particularly care for. Look at everyone and find the qualities that make them unique and beautiful and rejoice in those instead of picking at their flaws. See the good in people and watch how it makes them grow.
Until next time…
