I am part of the group the older generation likes to call the “lazy generation”. I always did what I wanted when I wanted. I normally wouldn’t do a job unless I could see immediate results from it. This morning God called me out on how lazy I was being with how I was treating the jobs I have had in the past.
This morning during my quiet time I was reading the book Seven Sacred Pauses when it started talking about work and how we should look at our everyday job and task. This quote basically slapped me right in the face.
“That our work is our love made visible. The way we approach our work is vital to our happiness and the good we are going to be able to do as Christians with God. The attitude with which we approach our work determines whether or not our work will become love made visible”.
I had never thought about my daily as a way to change the world around me and make it more beautiful. it hit me that me being lazy about the little task at work actually reflected me in a bad light. And god showed me that he doesn’t only care about my heart he also cares about what I do and how I do it. which leads me to the next quote that changed my heart.
“All work is for the purpose of improving the quality of life. Our work enables us to bring grace and beauty to our world. For this reason we need to learn how to work from the heart”.
I hope that when you read this God stirs something up in your heart also. I am going to change my ways, but not by my own strength. I have been lazy for I don’t know how long, I know only God can teach me how to learn to work from the heart. My prayer is that you allow God to work through yours too.
