Posch.
That is his name.
It is pronounced ‘posh’.

Stories are my life. I love stories. I love telling them, I love sharing them, and I love living them.

So, here is a story of The Albanian Man with the World Race Shirt.

At LDW- Leadership Developement Weekend- that we just had at the end of Albania, Ana Maria, Alysse, and I went running. After running for a while, Alysse and I were walking together. We passed a family getting into their car. After we walked passed them, Alysse turned to me and said, “Ashley, that man was wearing a World Race teeshirt.”

“No way!” And I turned around and ran towards their car. They had just started driving away and I motioned to them to stop because I was going to talk to them. He rolls down the window and I asked him if he was English. He shook his head. So I motioned to the shirt, asking him where he got it. He pointed in the direction of the camp that we are staying at. The campsite that we did LDW at has been a contact with AIM for a while and several World Race groups have come through. I told him that I liked the shirt and I introduced myself. He told me that his name was Posch. I waved goodbye and ran back to Alysse.

“He got the shirt from a previous Racer- he is Albanian,” I told Alysse. “Man, we should’ve gotten a picture of him!”

“Yeah, that would’ve been cool.”
At that point, Posch was about to drive past us. “Should I stop him and ask him to let us get a picture with him?”

“Nah, I feel like he is driving his kids somewhere,” Alysse replied. Then, Posche drove past us honking and waving at us.
We both said man, we should’ve gotten a picture with him and agreed that if we saw him again, that it would be a sign and we would get a picture.

“Alysse! That could’ve been our risk!” (Our squad is all about being risky for God and stepping out and taking risks for the rest of the race and the future)

“Yeah, you’re right. I’m going to pray that we see him again.” So, Alysse prayed right then and there for us to see Posch again and that we could get a picture. We were walking around a bend in the road, so I said,

“Now we are going to see his car right when we get around this curve.” We got around the bend and saw his car. He had stopped and that is why he was not super far away. He started driving away right when we saw him. In my head I thought, Dang, we aren’t going to get a picture. Then, for some reason he turned into a driveway a ways away and turned around towards us. He turned into a market that was like 100 yards in front of us, sat there five seconds, and then reversed back out and drove away. When he was turning into the market that was 100 yards in front of us, I started running,

“Come on, Alysse, run! We have to catch him, he’s about to leave!”
So, we ran to him. He had started reversing out of the parking lot and I yelled at him,

“Posch, Posch, can we get a picture?” So, he got out of the car and took a picture with us.

God loves to give his children good gifts. This is not to say that we are going to get everything that we want, but God wants to give us good things and it was neat to see this act of God.

It’s also cool to see that The World Race is getting bigger and there are little connections all the time. It’s sweet.

Also, this shirt was Our Squad’s WR shirt. The squad that one of our alumni squad leaders, Owen, was on. 🙂
