When I started looking into the World Race,
around the time that every potential racer becomes a “blog stalker”,
I read my friend’s blog about how she and a teammate were able to visit this older lady in Africa everyday. Even though they didn’t know the same language, they were able to have a relationship built on love and friendship.
When I read that,
I started praying.
I started praying for a person that a teammate and I could meet in AFRICA and visit everyday.
I wasn’t even sure that I was going on the World Race- and here I was praying for this person in Africa.
Well,
His name is Frederick.
On the first day that we did door to door evangelism in this country, Ehop and I came to this man’s house. His name is Frederick. He is 77. He was sitting on the wall outside of his house- leaning against a pillar. When we talked to him- through our translator- the first time, he didn’t really look at us. He just leaned against the pillar and listened as we talked about Jesus.
As we walked out of his yard that day, Ehop and I looked at each other and both shared that we thought God wanted us to continue a relationship with Frederick.
Each day after that, we would visit Frederick. Sometimes with a translator. Sometimes not. It didn’t matter, because we had our relationship with him either way. Each time we’ve seen him, he’s gotten more and more excited to see us. Each time we see him, we leave so uplifted and encouraged by him. His pure JOY is a wondrous thing to behold. I will NEVER forget the first time that he ran to greet us! It was an awesome awesome thing!
Frederick has now come to church three times with us. We visit him at his home daily and sometimes we see him in the village. Every time, he greets us with big hugs and numerous hand shakes.
God answered my prayers from over a year ago with a YES.
And
His Name is Frederick.
