BURNING JOY.

The name of my World Race team.

Me and 5 beautiful women of God.

We decided on ‘Burning Joy’ as a name for a couple of reasons.

The ‘burning’ is from the idea of Wildfire. We want to be so on fire for Christ! We want God’s crazy love and His kingdom to spread like a fire!!

Also, when fire comes through, it destroys everything- making room for new life. Just like when we are saved, we die to the ‘old man’- the old self- and the ‘new man’ (new life) comes out.

The ‘joy’ just identifies our team. We LAUGH soooo much! Contagious laughter. We laugh for no reason. We laugh at stupid things. I know that on the Race that our response is going to be laughter all the time! Even when bad stuff happens to us- it’s just the way we are!!

Left to Right. Back then front.

Caitlin, Asia, Ashley, (Emily)Ehop, Martha, (Emily)Werness.

I love these girls soo much! I can’t wait to do life with them for the next year!!

**I didn’t put up a team picture before, because we never got one. Martha had to leave for her sister’s wedding in Canada the day before teams were made. We never got a team picture until now…

At this point, I need to tell a story. I love stories. This is from Training Camp last month.

After just FOUR DAYS in the ‘wilderness’, we divide into our teams for the Race. After we divide, we get to go out into the town and have team time.

Did I mention that we were only out of ‘civilization’ for 4 days??

Well, my team went to Mellow Mushroom- which was really good. One of the girls on our team ordered a salad. She couldn’t eat it all so she gave the rest to me and another teammate. I ate half of what was left and let the other girl finish it. (I could’ve eaten more…. but, I left it for her like a good girl) The second girl didn’t eat it all and the server came and took the salad bowl away. She was right over my shoulder reaching for the bowl. After she was holding it, I was like,

“Wait. Hold on. I’ve got that.”

I then proceed to reach up into the bowl that she is holding, grab the remaining lettuce out of the bowl and eat it. The server looked at me like a crazy person. Haha. She then went to put the dish away and came back to us solely to ask,

“So, where do you guys come from?”

Hahaha. That’s it. I’m a barbarian. I don’t know what it’s going to look like coming back from ELEVEN months of this!!!
