everyday… *clap, clap, clap, clap*

tell the world that Jesus is the way.

I think that we would sing that song every single day in junior church. I never really paid attention to it. It was just a fun song that we got to sing and clap to. But- it’s been in my head for the past couple of days.

We are going through a series on Wednesdays called Encounters. Talking about encounters with Jesus. Different people in the Bible encountered Christ physically: children, disciples, church leaders, etc. People now encounter Christ spiritually: visions, dreams, nature, etc.

This past Wednesday, we talked about the woman, in the book of Mark, that encountered Christ and broke her jar of oil to anoint Him with. When the woman broke her jar of costly oil, (it cost about a year’s worth of money) her action was condemned by the bystanders. That oil could have been sold and fed many of the poor. But God told them that what this woman had done was right. She recognized that God was the LORD. He was the KING of her life.

This woman had a correct PERSPECTIVE of God which led to a beautiful encounter.

14:6 “But Jesus said, “Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want, you can do good for them. But you will not always have me”

Jesus knew that He was coming to the end of His ministry. His mission was almost complete.

8 “She has done what she could; she has anointed my body beforehand for burial”

HIS. MISSION.

************

Jesus was a missionary. Such a new thought to me

Here I am, worried about God just calling me to an ELEVEN month mission trip outside the country when I’ve never been on a mission trip outside of America.

Seriously.

If you’d talked to me recently, I’d have said, “yeah, I was like- God, what are you thinking? An 11 month mission trip when I’ve never left the country for even a short one?”

Jesus was a missionary.

Jesus. God’s only begotten Son. Not only ‘only begotten’ like ‘only son’, but also, ‘only begotten’ like ONE OF A KIND. The only one.

Jesus was a missionary.

For His mission trip He left Heaven and came to Earth.

I’m afraid of leaving America??

For His mission trip He left for 33 years.

I’m afraid of leaving for 11 months??

For His mission trip He didn’t always have the comfort of a bed.

Matthew 8:20 “Jesus said to him [the scribe], “The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”

Luke 9:58  “And Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”

I’m nervous about sleeping in a sleeping bag in a tent for the trip??

Wow. My mind is blown… again. :))

A fellow squad-mate and I keep getting blown away by things God does. Now, when something happens that God obviously does, we look at each other and one says to the other, “are you surprised?”

                                      the other answers…”NO!

All I have to say is,

God is Good ALL the time

and

ALL the time MY God is Good!!
