Have you noticed that most people don’t dwell on Christ’s resurrection outside of the “Easter” season? I feel like that season is so refreshing, a new start for many people… a reminder that no matter what, no matter what happens, we win in the end.
I’ll be honest with you, I’ve been feeling discouraged lately. Satan has definitely been more and more on the prowl, just attacking me every which way he can. I haven’t been feeling well, haven’t been sleeping well, and just feel downright exhausted. I was flipping through my bible when I came across the passage in John where Jesus is buried and is resurrected. In the footnotes of my bible, I had written down a quote that someone wrote about it and it ABSOLUTELY is what I needed to hear.
“Tonight, the enemy was satisfied. The Light that once shone bright was dim, His followers were silent and grieving, the tomb was sealed and holding the body of their Jesus.
His enemies rejoiced, declaring, ‘your Jesus is dead. You believed in nothing. He left you. This is over.’ Barabbas was free. Jesus was dead. And the enemy had won.
It may be a dark Saturday today, but we know that Sunday is coming. I was the enemy. I am guilty. I am Barabbas.
But our Jesus? He is alive.
Our enemy? He is defeated.
Sunday is coming and we wait in anticipation for our Savior. Up from our graves, He is risen.”
It was an awesome reminder that even in the midst of discouragement, in the midst of my doubts and fear, we win. NO MATTER what happens on this earth, the enemy has been defeated. Even in death, we live. In the midst of what is happening to believers around the world, it’s easy to fear. It’s easy to doubt and question God’s goodness. And to be honest, I don’t know why God allows bad things to happen. It doesn’t make sense, it hurts. It’s a reminder though that we are in the end of days, time is of the essence, our SAVIOR is coming back again. We need to look past dark Saturdays, for the promise of Sunday is here.
Declare it with me Church, Christ is alive; our enemy has been defeated!!
“The enemy has been defeated
Death couldn’t hold You down
We’re gonna lift our voice in victory
We’re gonna make Your praises loud
Shout unto God with a voice of triumph
Shout unto God with a voice of praise
Shout unto God with a voice of triumph
We lift Your name up, we lift Your name up”
Love and Blessings,
Ashleigh
