Remember how I told you we built a rock wall?

Well I never ended up getting really good photos of it being finished but here is what I have.

It is hard to get the perspective of how big and tall that wall really is but I did my best.

So that was the end of month one and can you believe it is already almost the end of month two?

Time is really flying by. I need to post more photos

(did you know posting photos takes about 5 mins each photo and I hardly ever get that much concentrated time on the internet so sorry).

So this month we are working with a church called Mi Vina (The Vine). They have been amazing to us and we really feel like family. I think you read the Somedays (if not click here) post about how we do different things with the church but overall it has been amazing. Sometimes we clean and do projects for the church like paint and clean, sometimes we go evangelizing, sometimes we work with a partnering non-profit organization called Leaders without borders. It has been a lot of fun to wake up not knowing exactly how the day is going to go but always being pleasantly surprised.

The biggest thing I have been learning here is to be present.

It is great because I really feel like I have seen a change in my mindset even in this short time of being here to just be. Not be planing (mostly because I’m not in control) of what the future holds even in the small ways.  Being on the Race almost forces you to give up on control in areas because there is such a dependance on others. I can’t control what time we are getting picked up, I can’t control what we are eating for lunch, I can’t control if we are going to have time later to wash clothes, or pick up more shampoo, life just forces us to go with the flow.

I see the growth in the team a lot too.

There used to be a lot of “Hey Ash, do you know what we are doing today?”

Nope.

“Hey Ash, do you know if we will be able to get internet there later?”

Nope.

“Hey Ash, do you know if this meat and cheese is okay to eat?”

Nope.

“Hey Ash, do you know if the water got turned back on?”

Nope.

There are a lot of questions I just don’t have answers to and I feel like we are all growing in taking one day at a time, moment by moment.

Cheers to growing and learning to live in the moment.

Love,

Ash
