Picture this…

Each one of our names are decorated on tiny pieces of paper as place settings with bundles of wildflowers set in old coca cola glasses. Our headlamps placed in the center of the tables to resemble candlelight and 72 of us sit side by side to enjoy our Thanksgiving dinner together. This includes our whole squad and 20 Hondurans from the community including Tony, our contact, and his family. We gather together as family, laughing, smiling and overjoyed for the lovely meal prepared for us. We say a prayer in spanish and dig in.

See we are sitting in one room all together enjoying our Thanksgiving meal  in what used to be the hottest bar in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Since Tony’s ministry purchased the site a couple of years ago it has now been transformed to the building of Tony’s ministry called “Don’t miss the Opportunity.” We were the second World Race squad to celebrate Thanksgiving with him, and what an honor it was.

It was a Thanksgiving to remember. Way better than I could ever imagined. We went around and said what we were most thankful for this past year and in that moment I felt so blessed. I took a deep breath in and told myself to remember this moment. Remember to be thankful for each and every moment because life moves so quickly. To remember to not miss the opportunity. To be present in the moment for the past is done and over and future is too far ahead to plan.
