Somedays
Somedays you find yourself in a cubical helping the non profit organization leaders without boarders.
Somedays you find yourself at a Honduras Hillsong worship concert that your ministry contact paid for you and your team to attend.
Somedays you find yourself in the evangelizing in a small community receiving a gift from someone you just met.
Somedays you meet someone that you connect with in a moment and it makes it all worth it.
A group of 7 of us went to small village to pray for people and evangelize. We went with the local church who has set up a home church there and is continually involved there. We prayed for the day and then set out. Within 5 mins God was already moving. There was a man that was fixing his motorcycle that we got to talk to and pray for. Then there was a women who was walking by that just started confessing to us that she was a leader in the church and was cheating on her husband all last week. As we began to pray for her she was so moved by the spirit that she fell to the floor. While that was taking place another group of us were praying for a man who apparently killed 10 people. He was drunk and confrontational at first but then began to open up to one of the guys on the squad about what he had been through and he later accepted the Lord. The day continued and we prayed for at least 15 people. We asked for healing and we asked for lives to be changed and I saw God answer those prayers. It was amazing to say the least!
Near the end of the day we took a break for lunch. We were eating spaghetti around the table when Mike asked about on of the girls that was helping serving us. Mike asked her to come sit and talk with us a bit. As she sat there it was apparent that there was something different about her. She looked like she was in her early 20’s a shy but somewhat strong woman.
She sat and we asked her name.
Meet Yancy.
She said she is 22 and she has two boys and is not married, which is very very normal situation on this country. I asked her more general questions which she answered, but then I asked her what were two things that made her happen. I immediately saw the passion in her face and strength in her tone of voice. She said that the Lord makes her happy because He is her strength and her sword. That he fills the hole in her heart and she knows He is her redeemer. As she was talking about how the Lord makes her happy my eyes started watering up. I can’t really explain why. My heart and hers just felt connected. She began to talk with more and more passion and her eyes began to water up. Vivian, our translator looked at me and knew, she said, “you want to pray for her don’t you.” So we got up from the table, I put my hands on her and just prayed for her.
Now I had probably known this girl for less than 5 mins but I can not explain how connected I felt to her. How much love I immediately had for her. How she didn’t have to say some of the things she was struggling with, I just could feel it. I prayed that she would know how much God loved her and know that no matter what happens He will never leave her. She began to cry and we kept praying for her to have strength in the Lord, to put her trust in him and to always turn to him.
I hugged her and we continued to talk. It was amazing how we understood each other so well and had similar hearts. I told her how blessed I was by her transparency, which is something I struggle with, especially when it comes to pain. The holy spirit definitely moved during those prayers.
Before I left she gave me a necklace. I was shocked but she insisted. I was so blessed by Yancy that day.
Somedays you find your self waking up at not knowing that you will have the best day ever.
Somedays you wake up to huge blessings and big things God is doing, but that day I was thankful to meet Yancy.
