So I started to write the wrap up for month 8 and I thought… shoot, I never posted month 6, or 7.
Fail on my part.
Well here is last months wrap up, and I’ll be getting you this months wrap up shortly (:
Is time flying by this quickly in the states or what?
Thanks guys for talking the time to read this blog. It means a lot that we are attempting to stay in touch.
Month End Wrap Up: 7 Malaysia
1. Where were you again?
This month we were in Malaysia.

2. What was the name of the ministry?
We worked with Tabernacle of Glory church. We stayed at the church and did various projects with them everyday. The biggest thing we did is we got to help renovate their new church property about 30 mins away. We cleaned out the building, painted the ceilings and walls, helped put up a new wall and did various other construction things to help them with the new building. A couple of us were able to help with the orphanage they are conected with as well. We also got to put on an overnighter for all the children at the orphanage that was about Daniel and the Loins Den.
3. What did you learn?
I thought growing up with 4 girls and 1 bathroom was hard, try 7 girls and 1 bathroom.
That roatti is amazing.
That you can keep ants out of honey by putting it in a bowl of water.
4. No really, what did you learn?
Seven of us girls were sharing one tiny room and one bathroom. I am an organization and clean freak and thought this is the month I would snap and freak out on everyone for having their stuff all over. But surprisingly we came up with an amazing organization system and it really worked to have seven of us girls from wall to wall in one room. I learned a lot about just loving the moments we share that will be over too soon. I learned to remember to not take for granite the time we have been given. To love people for where they are, while continuing to push them to where they want to be.
5. How was the food? Best meal?
The food has a strong Indian influence. We got to have amazing curries and naan. We also got to have a lot of healthy food this month too!! Veggie pitas, oatmeal, whole wheat pasta! I really liked “White house Coffee.” Haha the names overseas…
6. What do you miss from home?
Looking normal (see below)
Just kidding.. but I don’t think people understand how much I miss clouds, weather, fall, winter, snow, being cold. People be thankful for your seasons. Also give Cali a hug for me!! You can travel the world but nothing comes close to the golden coast (;
7. What would you like to say to the people (stalkers) back home?
Thanks for your prayers this past month!! I felt your prayers and appreciated you encouraging me from your e-mails. Thanks for checking in with your texts messages just to say hi (:
Also Corinne!! I read your half way note! It was amazing and thank you so much for the words you gave me!! Also I got to see a photo of my sister and her tummy? Are there twins in their?
7. What was the hardest part?
Well I can share with you later what the hardest part was. but for now, the hardest part was communication.
8. What was your favorite memory?
I got to see Alexander! She is a friend from home who has also done the world race. She traveled about 5 hours to see me and I was so grateful to see her! It was amazing to connect with someone who knows me outside of the race, but who also knows all the details of what being on the world race entails. I appreciated how she called me up on certain things, how she prayed for me, and how encouraging she was. We instantly connected on so many levels due to the nature of us growing up in the same area, and both understanding this crazy live of being a missionary with the World Race.
I also really enjoyed the day it rained that I got to spend some alone time in the bookstore. Alone time is hard to come by on the race because we aren’t allowed to go anywhere alone. My squad leader was shopping in the mall so I got to take advantage of some down time and it was amazing.
Last but not least was when we were able to take a trip to Pangkor Island at the end of the month. One of the most beautiful places I’ve been!! If you haven’t seen the album on Facebook please go look at at. We got to stay in such a nice place and simply walk out to the beach. We also went on a cool hike and saw toucans, a jumping spider, and a Kimono dragon! We also had an amazing night swim with glowing plankton in the water. I felt like I was in Avatar, I kid you not dude it was like tons of glowing sparkles all in the water.
9. Most dangerous thing you did?
Walk on the sidewalk!!!!!!!! Dude it is so creepy!! There are so many holes here. They have cement coverings but they move when you step on them! So many of them are broken, wobble back and forth, and are fallen in!
And we had to represent District 12… hard life for a tribute.
10. Any “Firsts” this month?
Yes, I got a journal without lines. You are probably thinking “Ash, big deal homes.” Well I am super super particular about my journals and I came to a decision (it took me 30 mins to weight the pros and cons) and I decided to get a journal without any lines. God has been pushing me to think outside the lines, to explore the infinite possibilities of all he has for me. To stop trying to make everything appear to be in order, and it is okay when it’s not.
11. What are you looking for God to do next month?
WE ARE HEADING TO AFRICA DUDE!! “They” say that it is gonna bring us to a whole new level of brokenness. I don’t know who “they” are but it does make me a little nervous.
