One of my favorite passages in the Bible is Ezekiel 37:1-10 (I know it’s kind of long but it’s worth reading!):

The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry.He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”

I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.”

Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”

So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.

Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army.

Do you know why this hits home with me? Because I was the dry bones. I needed the breath of the Lord to be put inside of me. Before I knew Christ, I was not living. I appeared to have life, but in reality I was a dead man walking. Then, Christ came and breathed life into me. And in a moment, everything changed. I became ALIVE. My dry, parched soul has been quenched with love and hope and joy and peace.

Now, He has chosen me to GO. Instead of being the dry bones, I am now Ezekiel, on a mission to share the Good News of life with the dry bones of the world. That doesn’t just mean when I leave to go on the World Race in September, it means NOW, right where I am – to share this Life with my family and friends, in my workplace, in the line at the supermarket, with the kids in my youth group – with whoever is in my sphere of influence. This is the call that is on the life of all believers.

So, I challenge you to GO. Go into your community, your group of friends, your family, your workplace, your school, and be a light that points to LIFE. If I hadn’t had someone like that in my life, who knows where I would be today. I’m sure my fellow believers out there can say the same thing. God chooses to use us in the lives of others. That should not be taken lightly! So, what are you waiting for?! GO.

‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. […] Then you will know that I am the Lord.’
