When I first went to Thailand I was on my way to Bangladesh. I was traveling by myself and had a layover where I stayed the night in Bangkok. I left the airport hopped in a taxi and spent the night in a hotel. I hurried to the airport the next morning with just a glimpse of the city. I went to Bangladesh and had an amazing trip and before I went home my host told me, “While you are in Bangkok, go explore!

Note: This was before the world race and before I understood the importance of ‘THE BUDDY SYSTEM.’

I was nervous traveling by myself to such a foreign place. I told her, “are you sure I should, I don’t want to get stolen?” She assured me that even though there were dark places in the city that I would be fine, but mostly I needed to go to the “Thai mall” not the “American mall” but the “Thai Mall.

So on my flight back to another layover in Thailand I prayed and asked God to keep my safe and in that prayer I asked God to bring me a taxi man that would take care of me. A taxi man that would know English, not take advantage of me and would direct me on the right path.

The next day as I was approaching a line of taxis outside the hotel God gave me that such taxi man. He was so joyful, infectious and wanted to talk as much English as possible. He took me around the city, took me to the “Thai Mall” and even came and bartered with me. We went to dinner and had authentic Thai food with his taxi friends. When he left me he gave me his fax number and told me to come have dinner with his family.

God knew exactly what I needed in that moment.

Just like He knows what you need in this moment.

Just like He knows what I need in this moment.

Just like He knows what my future team needs in this moment.

(I meet them in less then one week! eek! HAPPY DANCE!)

Just like He knows those girls that we will minister to need in this moment.  (www.samaritancreations.org)

When I left Thailand that one time ten years ago I didn’t realize I would get a chance to go back. I didn’t know I would teach English in Chanthaburi Thailand while on the race. I didn’t know I would be getting to go with a group of Passport girls to Bangkok Thailand to work with those girls who have “been stolen.”

You are loved.
