All of us if we opened our fridge would find something lingering in the back that has an expiration date. Sometimes those items become questionable and other times they are explicitly overdue.

In my life I have heard God speak multiple promises. Some of those promises I have seen come to fruition. Other promises I am still waiting on. Those promises that are in the wings I have considered on the shelf, but in the recent days as I have lingered with God, he has spoken otherwise.

The words that God has spoken over our lives do not have expiration dates. I used to grieve that He had spoken words over my life that I had not seen happen yet. I used to put them in the dream casket and wait for him to raise them to life.

However, now I look at those promises and know that just because they haven’t come to pass doesn’t mean that He is not working in the unseen. If God has said, “YES!” then I need to continue believing that He is going to do outrageous things.

“When God wanted to guarantee his promise he gave his word, a rock solid guarantee- God can’t break his word and because his word cannot change the promise is likewise unchangeable God gave you his word.”

(The Message, Hebrews 6:13-20, GO READ IT!)

When we look at God’s promises over our lives often we confuse our due date with God’s appointed time. God has spoken things over my life that haven’t happened yet, that doesn’t mean that they will never happen, it just means that I have to trust God and wait.

God doesn’t do things our way. I had set in my mind that by the time I was 30, I would be some crazy missionary with a cute hipster husband and babies adopted from all over the world doing insane things for God’s kingdom. I’m 31 and now on a crazy adventure, THE WORLD RACE. The above are mixed with some of my hopes; God’s promises are never accomplished our way and often challenge us in what we believe about him.

I realized that those promises God gives are perfectly preserved. They don’t look like the milk in your fridge that grows pungent and makes you want to vomit because it’s been sitting too long and way past expiration. God’s promises have no expiration date. It’s just often more times then not, he is getting things ready to do more then you could ever imagine or dream.

God’s promises go beyond expiration dates. He is a big faithful God. While here on THE WORLD RACE and in Ecuador I have seen his promises slowly unfolding. I believe that he is going to go beyond what I could ever imagine or dream. I am holding on to his promises, declaring his word and growing closer to him then ever before.

Sending love from Ecuador,
