Currently in Jinja, Uganda with my new team! RAD, which is very fitting because my new team is a group of really awesome women. There’s Emily Ann who I have been on the same team with from the beginning, Morgan, Paige and Sarah Beth. This month we have ATL (ask the lord) where we don’t have a ministry host and instead we go out and meet people and find our own ministry. Since we don’t have a host we have to find our own lodging that meets our budget.
The day before we had to leave our hostel at debrief we found an Airbnb under budget and in Jinja where we really wanted to stay. We went into it with little expectations and it ended up turning out way better than we could have imagined. Our host Anne has been such a huge blessing to my team and I. On our first day walking around we stopped in this ladies shop. Her name was Kevina and when we got to talking she told us about an orphanage that she had worked at for ten years. She was kind enough to take us to the orphanage and set us up to volunteer there. My teammate Paige had it on her heart to talk to women who were HIV positive and fortunately Kevina also helped make that happen.
With ATL there’s a lot of downtime and I couldn’t be more thankful for it to get to know my new team. We’ve also been able to spend a lot of time with our host, her foster son and all of her friends. I never expected to love a place that’s not my home as much as I do love Jinja, Uganda. Being away from my family for Christmas is going to be extremely hard but thankfully I have created a family here in Jinja. We will be traveling west to spend Christmas with Anne’s family at this lake house! Pictures to come!
I hope you continue to follow along as my squad and I are in Uganda. The support I have been shown amazes me everyday and I am so thankful for you all. Deadlines have past and I’m still fundraising. I still have $5,000 to fundraiser and I NEED YOUR HELP!! Please consider donating or talking to friends and family that you know who would want to be apart of this amazing season of life God has for me!
